In The Studio This Month

There's always something new to talk about in the studio here in Falmouth. We have been thinking about a new collection and Rebecca has been sketching ideas on her ipad, so watch this space for further updates.
It's also been a busy month for getting products sampled with lots of communication between us and our suppliers, making tweaks and small changes before they go into production. We have some great new products in the pipeline for delivery in time for the summer.
Read on to find out more.

We have been thinking about a mini collection, something to brighten these dull, wet days and get us in the mood for a long warm summer.
As you know we take our inspiration from all that surrounds us here in Cornwall and have always been drawn to the myths and legends of old sea tales passed down from generation to generation. We have always loved the idea of mermaids and magical underwater worlds and Rebecca has been experimenting with a fresh colour palette of cool blues and aqua's, a hint of pink and a touch of gold!

Rebecca found an old '50's wallpaper border online and loved the loose style in which it was drawn and ordered it as she knew this would be the inspiration she was looking for to start this new collection. She immediately picked up her ipad and with the colour palette she already had and now with the style she was inspired by the illustrations started to come thick and fast.

We wanted this mini collection to have a deluxe feel to it, and we are planning a few bone china items that will have some gold accents. We have always wanted to use some gold on our bone china and this seems to be the perfect opportunity to use it.

Launching in July we hope to offer these new designs in mugs, nibbles dishes, room diffuser, lampshade, cushions and a special edition 4 wick 15cm wide candle.

We will be sampling over the next month so keep an eye out on our social media for updates on how it's all coming along.
Also new this month we have been sampling some gorgeous beaded cosmetic bags, coin purses, glasses cases and pouches. Our beaded decorations, placemats and coasters have been so popular that we wanted to do more with our very talented supplier in India. We sent our illustrations off to them earlier this year and asked them to interpret them in beaded form for us. We chose a luxurious cotton velvet base cloth in 3 colours, aqua, navy, light blue and pink and are thrilled with the results. We've made a few tweaks and hope to have these in store and online in July.
We find it very hard to find mirrors that we like, they're either too plain, too fussy or just too expensive, that's we have decided get invest in some classic designs that will fit into most homes. You can see a selection below of 3 of the frames we have been working on, and we love them. This is a big investment for us as buying bigger pieces in larger quantities can tie up capital which is not great for cash flow but we are happy to invest in good design and we like having products that are designed by us and totally exclusive.

We have also been sampling some new whitewashed wooden lamp bases. We've made some changes to the ones below but this should give a flavour of what's to come.

We've made changes to the height so that they work in proportion to the lampshades that we make.

Here at Cream we love a good notebook, so we decided to add to our block print collection with your favourite colours. We have sampled our designs in dark blue, teal and fresh azure blue. We love they way they sit together and compliment each other and that's why we are going to sell them in sets of 3. We've also added our most popular sea creature, the octopus to liven things up a bit!

We've been overwhelmed by the positive response to our Sailor's Story Collection and have decided to add some art prints to it. If you're looking to brighten up a dull wall or add a little interest to your home then you will soon be able to add these colourful illustrations to your walls as well.
We will have lot's more to share with you soon so check in soon to see what we have been up to.
