About Our Throws

We love throws at Cream; they are perfect for so many occasions, from cooler autumn evenings, taking on a picnic, creating colour and texture in your décor, the list is endless. We have quite a selection now, from our own designs woven for us in Lancashire in recycled cotton, the beautiful cashmere, mohair and lambswool selection from Southern Ireland and our newest addition, a fantastic range from a Scandinavian company called Klippan, with a completely traceable wool supply.

Here's a little more information about all of our suppliers and throws.

Cream Cornwall Double Faced Throws
These were a long time in the planning and as soon as they arrived, they have been a constant best seller. There are so many things to love about these throws, they are made in Britain to our own designs so totally exclusive to us, made from recycled cotton, machine washable and feel amazingly soft on your skin.

Cream Cornwall Lightweight Throws
We had these throws woven for us in India as we wanted something a little more lightweight and in colours and textures that are ever popular. Choose from reversible ones, ones with a basket weave or herringbone texture.

John Hanly
Woven in Southern Ireland by a family run firm established in 1893, the throws are still woven in their factory on the banks of the Nenagh river. We love their mohair throws and the oversize lambswool and cashmere throws which are perfect for super king beds.

Klippan
When we saw this collection and the philosophy behind the brand, we placed our order immediately. We love that the wool is completely traceable back to the individual sheep
Farmer.  It all started on a small scale outside Klippan in 1879.

To be able to manage the production and fully control the quality Klippan produces all the blankets and throws from start to finish in their own factory. All Klippan's lamb's wool comes from New Zealand and the wool can be traced all the way back to the individual sheep farmer. This means that they can ensure high quality and at the same time be environmentally friendly. For the last few years Klippan has also been able to offer throws made of wool from farmers running sheep breeding using ecological principals (eco wool).

Ecologically produced cotton has been a common concept for many years, but ecological wool has been a rarity. The reason is that insects have been a challenge with animals in wool production and until today it has been inconceivable to produce.

A group of farmers in Bank Peninsula, New Zealand, decided to address the difficulties of Eco sheep breeding. They developed a process where they only treat the sheep with pesticide once, instead of repeatedly as had been practiced before. They give this treatment when the sheep is newborn which leads to no or negligible amounts of pesticides in the finished wool as it grows. Additionally no chemicals are allowed to be used in the crops or in the food that the sheep eats and no antibiotic is used during the breading process. A special washing method for the wool has been developed to again save the environment as much as possible. Finally, as a control over the entire process, an independent an accredited laboratory test approves each consignment of wool. Bank Peninsula “ECO WOOL” is especially suitable for throws and KLIPPAN is exclusive in the market in using this material. Items with Eco Wool are specially labelled.

KLIPPAN cares about animal welfare. Because they control the whole production from beginning to end we can guarantee no animal cruelty takes place during the production of the wool we use.
